The Instruments

	Surdo The heartbeat of the band. There are two main Surdos and two smaller surdos.

	Repanique To say it, it sounds like ‘He-pan-eeke’  It is used to fill in the gaps and often by the band leader.

	Caixa - Snare drum The snare drum give the moving feel to the samba sound

	Tamborim A hard, snappy sound. The tamborim players get some great rhythm patterns to play.

	Double Agogos They play simple tunes to add  more life and movement into the overall sound.

	Ganza Otherwise known as Shakies. They are the musical glue, they hold the sound together.
